East London-based sister creative companies May Print, Have A Butchers and Hempstead May have launched a charity print sale to raise funds for the people of Ukraine. Proceeds of the sale will be donated to the British Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal, which is working on the ground to distribute food and hygiene parcels, provide aid, repair homes, and help evacuate people with disabilities. The print sale currently features 55 photography prints and will run until 11 March; more prints will be added to the selection in a drop today (4 March) at 6:00pm, with another to follow on Monday (7 March) at 6:00pm.

Prints have been priced at £50 each to keep the sale as “inclusive as possible”, says May Print. “We work with a lot of young people and within our Dalston community and we know that so many of us are looking for ways to help within our own means.” The three companies aim to raise funds for the British Red Cross Crisis Appeal as quickly as possible with the charity sale.

Photographers who have contributed work to the print sale include Jamie Hawkesworth, Alec Soth, Laura Pannack and Fumi Homma. May Print continues: “We’ve had some very special prints donated to the cause including Jake Chessum’s portrait of Kate Moss, when she was only 16. Jake lost the negatives over 20 years ago to finally find them in a paper bag in his Dad’s flat earlier this year.” Other work includes a landscape shot by Venetia Scott of a carousel shot in Kyiv, “the warm mood reminding us of kinder times”, says May Print. Also available is Kane Ocean’s exploration of his Ukrainian routes and Craig Easton’s “quintessential countryside couple ‘Mr & Mrs McDonald Caithness’, there really is something for everyone,” concludes May Print.

Having collaborated with the fine art print house and full scale retouching company Hempstead May, all work has been printed on fine art ‘Hahnamühle Lustre’ Archival paper at 10x8, and is available unsigned.
