When you’re looking for inspiration, whether that be creative, style inspiration or just for dreaming, there is one place we’re pretty sure everyone knows to go: Pinterest. With over 400 million active monthly users, it’s no overstatement to say that the visual inspiration platform has something for everyone. Therefore having brilliant insight into what people really want, Pinterest has a grasp on current trends while predicting future ones – from the most exciting new hair styles to the rise of the micro-tattoo.

But while it’s great to be able to peruse all of these trends on your screen, there’s nothing quite like getting out from behind your device and seeing the most exciting new trends face to face. It’s for this reason, among many others, that Pinterest will be holding a number of immersive experiences at the Cannes Lions festival from 20 June to 24 June. Taking place at the Carlton Beach Club in Cannes, the festival is dedicated to celebrating positivity and facilitating creativity. As such, Pinterest has created a vibrant oasis where you can explore trends from the future, get tips from expert creators, try out a creative endeavour you’ve never encountered before and maybe even secure a souvenir for a loved one back home.

Just scanning the list of creatives collaborating with Pinterest for the festival, we can tell it’s going to be an all-star lineup – who each seem just as excited. In particular, Glasgow-based designer Gabriella Marcella who designed a mural for the Pinterest pier sees it as a long-overdue opportunity to get out of her comfort zone and dust off those pre-pandemic social skills. “It’s only over the past months I’ve been able to get out and about; meeting creatives that I would otherwise never encounter in Glasgow,” she tells It’s Nice That. “I’d forgotten how much I enjoy it, and how essential it is for our creative development.” Moreover, artist Frankie Zombie, who will be leading a trainer customisation workshop, sees it as a brilliant opportunity for collaboration. “Having the opportunity to engage with artists of so many different mediums and learning their backgrounds, lifestyle, origins is such a blessing for me.”

The experience has three interactive creative spaces. Firstly, step into the Pinterest Predicts Parlour for an unexpected, ‘where did you get that’ look inspired by the Pinterest Predicts trends of 2022. Makeup artist Wendy Asumadu, hairstylist Naeemah Lafond, and nail artist Lili Creuk, to name just a few, will offer everything from mermaid waves to ocean-inspired ‘nailscapes’ (made entirely of fake nails!). If you've been eyeing a bejewelled ponytail or even a fine line tattoo, this is your chance to be daring—and do it in style. Next, you can immerse yourself in the Idea Pins Studio where you can join creators for exclusive workshops. Ever wondered what colour your aura is, or what trainers would look like if you designed them yourself? This is your chance to find out.

If all this wasn’t enough, you can finish up your day with something that goes hand in hand with Pinterest: shopping. The Gifting Gallery is the perfect opportunity to show someone you know them. Gifting is one of the top reasons people shop on Pinterest — nine out of ten people use it for gift-giving ideas. Whether you love your pet or your partner more there’s something for everyone. This sense of thoughtful gifting is something Pinterest holds core to its ethos, and to reflect this, it’s giving attendees the opportunity to enter a draw to win a souvenir for someone back home. While Pinterest has always sought to give its users a creative digital experience, its lineup at the Cannes Lions festival is bringing this community-focused, insightful online presence into the real world.
