Review of the Year 2022: Top 25 Talks

With many restrictions still in place from the pandemic, the start of 2022 saw events being held online. Refusing to let this dampen the Nicer Tuesdays spirit, we saw in the year with an absolute corker: Kinfolk’s design director Alex Hunting and lover of all things kitsch Naomi Anderson-Subryan took to the (virtual) stage. Both brilliant talks featured in our most-watched of the year.

But it wasn’t long until we saw ourselves returning to in-person events and rubbing creative shoulders again. It seems our wordy wonders really got you going this year, with Kris Andrew Small, Raissa Pardini and Anna Mills’ typography-focused talks taking the top spots. Then, things got immersive with Lydia Chan and Joy Yamusangie, who both led the audience through their large-scale installation exhibitions at London’s NOW gallery.

We also had the pleasure of finding out what it’s like working with some of the biggest names in the creative world, with Aidan Zamiri breaking down his project collaborating with the spectacular FKA Twigs, and Jack Bridgland revealing the secrets behind that viral Robert Pattinson shoot for GQ (you know the one). Of course, it wouldn’t be a Nicer Tuesday’s season without some inspirational content stirring up some emotion and drive. In Harry Butt’s talk, he offered up a compelling deep dive into the importance of learning from your creative “failures”, while Olivia Twist discussed the two things that fuel her work: family and community.
